Folkestone Primary Schools / Childminders

Hi there,

Some advice please if anyone can help. We are relocating to the East Cliff area of Folkestone from Hertfordshire over the summer and have been looking at the local primary schools. The schools most local to us are St Mary's, St Peter's, Mundella, St Eanswythes School and Castle Hill. We would just love to know what the local opinion of these schools is??

Also, where else do you find a good childminder? I have been onto childminder.co.uk but most of them either don't do school pick ups or do them from certain schools,, none of which are in our local area.

Any advice gratefully received.

Hi, we also relocated from Hertfordshire to Folkestone last year! My kids go to St Peter's which is a small, friendly school and the biggest obvious drawback is lack of outside space. I live near Castle Hill and have spoken to neighbours who are happy with it. It's just got a good Ofsted with the opportunity to achieve Outstanding. The other two schools have good reputations. I've actually just trained as a childminder and might be able to help you. Let me know if you want to chat about schools or childminding. I'd be happy to. That would be great to chat through some things with you, especially as you relocated too. Pretty scary time with all the things you have to get in place. We are on the waiting list for 4 schools in the area at the moment but just worried where she will go come september if there are still no places. Be great to have a chat with you......

Sorry to jump on this thread, but I'm hoping to move to Folkestone in August. Mundella is our local school and there is space there for my son to join in September, but we need after school care for this. Could this be something you might be able to help with? It seems really hard to find a club or childcare that will collect him. Thank you!
