KS1 spelling

My y2 child can struggle through spelling tests by learning the words, but they don't go in deep enough to stay there! Written work is full of errors. Teachers say repetition is the only way to learn.

He's fairly bright otherwise, but being able to remember spelling is dragging him down.

Any ideas or tips to help the spellings stay in his head? We already use the squeebles app for spelling tests.

Hi OP

How is his reading? My understanding (I am not a teacher nor an education expert) is that being a fluent reader is a real help with spelling.

He's a good reader. Just not a great speller.

Could there be something like dyslexia going on? Makes spelling tricky...

We asked about that but the teacher doesn't think so.
