Dear parents,

Does anyone know when 2018 Eton KS results will be communicated to the parents?

Think the schools (and boys) were told on the Thursday afternoon of my son's year - he rang from school. We received the roll in the post the following day. Mine's checking the board at school hourly and so I can update when current KS's know!!

The Eton siblings know.

Prep schools may have been informed today itself. Eton publishes the official results the day after having informed prep schools. So with some luck, all will be known by tomorrow! Prep schools usually contact successful boys (their families) directly by phone to give the good news immediately. Best of luck to all hopefuls.

It's confirmed prep schools got the KS results yesterday, Thursday 3rd May, as stated in my post above. Papplewick School in Ascot managed only 1 success this year as opposed to 2 from last year. But this is still a great success story in anybody's language as Papplewick feeds KS's to Eton almost annually in the last 12 to 15 years. Considering there are only 14 places available each year and they are fiercely contested by brilliant boys worldwide, to achieve one success alone in 10 years is by itself a major achievement. Well done, Papplewick!

Here it is, the official Eton KS Results – 2018.

The Election Roll 2018

The 14 places are shared by 12 different schools from near and far – the nearest being 8 miles away and the furthest 6,000 miles on the other side of the globe. Or if you discount overseas competitors, it’s 250 miles up north. No “linked” school(s) from your backyard within walking distance that scoops up ⅓ of all the places. Wink

I don’t think Paplewick particularly stands out. Westminster Under sends some each year (unusual to be only one) and there are other names that pop up regularly, aren’t there?

peteneras · 11/05/2018 01:28

No, I didn't say Papplewick stood out - just that they have at least one success every year for the last dozen years or so and this is the school I'm more familiar with. In my books, the only school that stands out prominently in the KS exams over the last 15 or so years is not Pappewick nor Westminster Under School nor Dragon nor anyone else but definitely Summer Fields.
