York Schools

Looking at schools in the York area and deciding between St Peter’s (including Clifton and St Olave’s ) and Queen Ethulberga’s (including Chapter House and King’s Magna).

Have done lots of online research and seen the good and bad. Would be interested in the views of parents who send their kids to these schools... thanks

York is full of excellent state and private schools but I have to say neither of those would be my pick, and QE in particular I wouldn’t go near. Lots of threads on here over the years highlighting people’s concerns (although admittedly most get deleted). Re St Peter’s, the traditional private school competitive atmosphere is not one that necessarily appeals to me but is what a lot of parents are after. They get very good results but obviously are more selective than other York schools.

Other options in the area are Bootham, The Mount, Pocklington, Cundall Manor and Queen Margaret’s for private and Fulford, All Saints and Archbishop Holgate’s for state.

Thanks for the response 🙂
Would also be really great to get the thoughts of parents who send their children to the schools

Most state secondary schools in York are Ofsted good or outstanding.
