Don’t you mean, which boys were successful!?

Michaelahpurple · 29/04/2018 22:14

They haven’t sat it yet

Mangoedge · 30/04/2018 12:52

They sat last week and the results came out on Friday.

Election 2018

Our school now awaiting Eton results at the end of this week.

Thank you @Pythonesque . The Pilgrims school and Dragon did very well indeed. Also fantastic result for Horris Hill, they are much smaller than the other two. A wonderful achievement all round.

Are you linked to Horris Hill Hmm
Otherwise why were you asking?

Mangoedge · 30/04/2018 18:25

No, but I do have a boy sitting next year. Our school has not had success at the Winchester Election for many years. Possibly because it doesn't send many boys to Winchester. Nevertheless we are still hopeful but we shall see.Looking back it may have been wise to send him to a school which has a record of success, it's a little late now.

"The Pilgrims school and Dragon did very well indeed."

Indeed too well, sweeping 4 places out of a total of 14, i.e. almost 30%, I couldn't help but was prompted to do a search on 'The Pilgrims' School' because I've never heard of this school before until this evening.

Lo and behold, this is what I found - how utterly convenient!

"The Pilgrims' School is a boys' preparatory school and cathedral school in the cathedral city of Winchester, Hampshire, England. The official date of establishment is unknown but historical records indicate that choristers of Winchester Cathedral's renowned choir have been educated in the Close as early the 7th century.[1] As it also educates choristers of the Winchester College Chapel Choir, the school maintains close links with the college."

Mango, the successful boy from Horris Hill transferred there from NCS during year 6. There were several reasons including the chance to board, but I think it was done partly with their experience of Winchester preparation in mind.

I know a family with a boy at Pilgrims', and gather that they tend to channel most of their boys towards applying to Winchester, which is fine if you want to go on to Winchester but you are more on your own if you are considering other schools. (by the way the choristers at the College are actually quiristers)

Yes, Pilgrim's is known to attract very musical boys for the two high profile choirs, Winchester cathedral and Winchester college both of which. A lot of those boys are also highly intelligent. Pilgrim's also regularly get music awards to Eton.
