How to boost DD confidence

DD (10) in tears this morning, stressing about feeling that she is not doing her work right and general low confidence, I think. Her teacher is more than pleased with her and her progress, and before the Easter holidays she was given a head teachers award! Reports are always great.
It was heartbreaking to see her so upset this morning. She said she felt a bit better after we talked it out a bit, but has anyone else had experience of this? TIA

Is she in Y5 or Y6? If Y6, is it a SATs thing?

I would suggest a meeting with the teacher and your DD so that you can present a united front on how well she is doing at school and discuss any specific concerns she has. Is this a recent development? What are her friends like and who is she sat with at school? Being around someone who is loud and cocky, or super bright can make people feel inadequate in comparison.
Some children, girls in particular, can be perfectionists and beat themselves up about every little mistake. This mentality can be really damaging and children like this need to be helped to embrace mistakes as the stepping stones to improvement and/or develop the ability to laugh them off. Extra curricular activities and learning something fun from scratch can really help here.
