Secondary Schools Richmond Area

Hi Everyone,

I'm being relocated to London and we've missed primary to secondary transition. The mini will be in the first year of secondary. I'm strongly considering the Richmond/Teddington/Twickenham (more expats but spotty secondaries as far as I can tell) areas and also considering Woodford/Buckhurst Hill/Loughton areas (no expats, but on the central line). I know they're both on very different sides of London. Does anyone know of secondary schools of these areas? The mini has moved around a lot and has had a wide variety of education so that's not necessarily concern, but I do know we're coming into the game late so our options will be limited. I'll send her to an independent of Catholic school if our options are terrible, but I'd prefer not to if at all possible. Thanks!

Hi .I know some Richmond borough schools. Orleans (ofsted outstanding) over subscribed so you would need a waiting list place. Ok school. If our opinion not brilliant. Depends a bit on your class. Some classes have low level disruption. Girls sport is good especially lower down school and if you are in the teams. Maybe doesn’t achieve as well as it could overall given its cohort.
RUT school new so no track record but parents seem to like it.
Waldegrave all girls, very pushy academia wise. Gets good results, sporty, some girls have problem with bullying andbitchiness. Doesn’t suit all but suits the right girl well.Ofsted outstanding, oversubscribed.
St Richard Reynolds catholic oversubscribed. This is its first year GCSE so watch this space.
Twickenham school. Undersubscribed. Has a checkered past but apparently with new head, came from Waldegrave is on the up.
Teddington just got ofsted requires improvement,
Private Catholic, St Catherine’s may be full for year 7 but worth asking. Marymount international in Kingston does IB not A levels. Pricey

This is great info! Have you heard anything about Turing House in Teddington? It's under subscribed but also doesn't have a rating. I'm guess it's pretty new.

I don’t think Turing is undersubscribed anymore. This is from the Richmond thread for this years allocations

Christ’s School, Waiting list, Open places distance 1.380 kms
Grey Court School, Waiting list, distance 3.146 kms
Hampton High School, All preferences met, distance N/A
Orleans Park School, Waiting list, distance 1.530 kms
Richmond Park Academy, Waiting list, distance 2.981 kms
St Richard Reynolds, Waiting list, Randomly allocated within criterion 2
Teddington School, Waiting list, distance 2.660 kms
RTS, Waiting list, distance 3.590 kms
Turing House School, Waiting list, 20% 6(a) distance 1.308 kms, 80% 6(b) distance 2.457 kms
Twickenham Academy, All preferences met, distance N/A
Waldegrave School, Waiting list Area,Area A distance 1.533 kms, Area B distance 5.0
I think Turing has been open 3 years. It seems to be doing well and is popular. No exam results yet. It is in a temporary site in Teddington but next years year 7 will be on a different temporary site in Hampton. The current Clarendon school site. Clarendon is moving.
Eventually they hope to be in Whitton . But it needs to be built.
