I think its a bit confusing anyway for my dd because her name is Hannah so its the same whichever end she starts at...just wondered if this was usual or not

Lol my dd's name is Eve and she starts with the V I think it is normal. Mind you her name is the same both ways too.

Absolutely. Lots of them do it!

TinyGang · 12/05/2007 19:33

I've been told it's not unusual.

I hope not because dd is nearing the end if recetion and still does it. In her case I sometimes wonder if it's because she's left handed.

Mind you, so am I and I don't rememeber doing it.

She always wants to sound out the last letter first when she reads too. The other day dh was reading with her and they read the word 'hit'.

Dh said 'H-I-T what do those letters make?' 'Tit!' she shouted triumphantly.

I remember when DS was 4 and we were on a beach. He wrote something totally mirror writing. Spooky. He's 7 now and writes perfectly well (terrible handwriting, though).

Is she left handed? I wrote the wrong way round to start with and I'm left handed - I think it is quite common for left handed children to start like that - after all, it makes sense to be able to see what you are writing instead of having it covered by your hand.

Can't really tell yet if she's left handed - seems to use both - dh is left-handed

Yes, very common. Its nothing to worry about.

JiminyCricket · 12/05/2007 19:49

thanks - thought it probably was fairly usual..after all, its all about learning a set of rules, not that logical esp. if left handed
