Montpelier primary (state) Vs Durston house (private)

Hi everyone,

My husband and I are trying to decide between Montpelier primary (We are inside the catchment area) and Durston house. The advantages of Montpelier are obviously free education. But is the £1000 per month fee worth it for Durston house instead? We can just about afford private schooling.
Our 3 year old son is quiet and thoughtful and is ahead with maths and English.

Thanks in advance.

Hi we are also on the same boat. What have you decided?

Find out as much information as you possibly can. I have a virtual folder with information on potential schools in the area for both of my children. Check out the website. It will tell you a lot of information about the school.

Jot down your questions. Visit the website of the school. Arrange a time to visit with your child in tow and get a sense of whether or not he will do well there. Trust your gut feeling. Listen to any gossip about the school. Talk with students and staff members as well.

Read the inspection report objectively. Remember it was written by a stranger. Also take a look at any curriculum booklets. Parents are also a good source of information. I divide my questions into categories for convenience. Let us know what you have decided.

Did you go to Durston in the end? I am interested for my sons and would love some insider perspective.
