My grandson has thrived at QM he is a different young man, to the distressed child from the bullying at his previous school which was located in Ascot and moved to Camberely. He was bullied/injured and picked on.
The Head at QM is approachable and deals with issues in a caring and quick way.
It is sad that his health has meant he will he leaving earlier than expected. To be fair who would like to travel back and forth every week from Devon?
Teachers deal with any issues promptly.
I too look forward to more senior students particularly boys joining the school.

Well this was always on the cards. Poor staff and pupils. After buying new uniform too!

So! Another blow yesterday the parents, teachers and children were all told the school is closing this Thursday! Yes this Thursday!! 3 days notice. Gone into administration. How could they have taken the January school fees knowing they were on the brink of closing down! Shocking mismanagement. Really feel for the children who I’m sure some of them will be quite traumatised and staff who won’t be getting paid.
Where too now? Some children will be doing their gcse and A levels soon.

frankeness · 29/01/2019 17:55

That's shocking for the poor children and teachers. I've heard about this closure locally and everyone is shocked.

Which schools can take those children with GCSE and A levels coming up? Hopefully everyone finds places soon.

Windsorroyal · 31/01/2019 17:00

For your information, the school has closed its doors today. Permanently. They’ve gone into Administration. Hardly surprising really. What was once a lovely school has been run into the ground by the wonderful Mrs Fleming.

4point2fleet · 31/01/2019 18:49

Blimey. I'm shocked they couldn't even see their way to staying open until the end of term for the sake of the families using the school in good faith.

How awful.

Angelbmiran · 31/01/2019 19:23

Wow i feel I've had a lucky escape and feel for the children and parents. We didnt sign as alarm bells were ringing in my head after viewing when they were all about coughing up the fee's. Buikding was run down and half of it locked up and not in use. Sad times.

GU24Mum · 31/01/2019 19:29

That's sad as it's been there as long as I've been driving through Windsor (which is quite a while!). One of my old teachers went there as the head in the late 80s/early 90s.

But more importantly, I feel so sorry for the parents who've just paid for a term's fees and even more so for anyone vaguely near exams ie the Y10 to 13s. Hope they find somewhere good really soon.

CraftyGin · 31/01/2019 20:37

The Fleming’s kept the school stumbling on for 8 years, but at what cost to pupils and teachers? It would have been better to bow out gracefully and to let everyone make fresh start.

I suspect we have not yet heard the whole story, with “long game”, “expiring covenants”, and “development potential”.

Chelsea1952 · 04/02/2019 21:53

Pretty sure we will see planning applications in the not so distant future for luxury apartments! Gold Mine. Feel incredibly sorry the the parents and children, but suspect that there is way more to this than anyone realises suspect that everyone is most definitely better off out of there!

Veritas16 · 07/02/2019 21:33

Totally agree. It is strange that the proprietor has two companies connected to the same property. I suspect the school will be made into apartments at an obscene profit.

My understanding is that the land the school is built on is Crown Land. There is a covenant on the land specifying that it must be used for educational purposes.

AspergersMum · 29/01/2020 12:55

Same location I'm guessing? New autism school in Windsor! Result! witherslackgroup.co.uk/queensmead-house-school/

Xiaoxiong · 30/01/2020 11:33

Aspergers that makes me really happy actually, I was worried it was going to be turned into flats! There's such a dearth of really good specialist provision for ASD and ADHD. Do you know anything about the group that will be running the school?

AspergersMum · 30/01/2020 14:19

xiaosiong It's the Witherslack group, that also does Chilworth Upper School in Oxfordshire (and other schools). They hope to open at the end of March but aren't doing tours just yet. Can't wait to see it!

Xiaoxiong · 30/01/2020 14:42

Well I've only done a cursory Google but Chilworth has an outstanding ofsted and some good reviews from parents online. So hopefully this will be a lovely new start for Queensmead (though I will always call it the Brigidine in my head!)
