Not sure where to go career wise

Hi new to Mumsnet..
Don't want to give too much away .. I currently work at a school as an UQT ( unqualified teacher) while I study for my degree. I love what I do as I work with kids that have some complex needs ... I can't decide if I should do my teacher training once I have completed my degree or move towards the pastoral role ( where my passion is) in schools and still do my degree .

The pastoral role will not have much career progression. Usually a deputy head will be in charge of pastoral so you need to be a teacher to get to that level. It really sexiness if you want a career with possible higher earnings. What post grad would you do for pastoral care?

Sexiness??? No! I meant to say : it’s really teaching .....

Pretty much any promoted role in a school is going to require QTS. If you want to remain in school settings then I'd strongly encourage you to get it. Pastoral managers don't usually have QTS but they are always line managed by heads of house or by pastoral SLT, who do.
