Inadequate feminine hygiene facilities in school

There is a problem with over flowing and missing sanitary bins at my daughters' school. This has been raised with the school but the response has been to blame the girls for using the bins for other rubbish. My daughters feel that this is only a small explanation for the problem. Growth in size of the school in the last two years must be significant.

Does anybody work in the feminine hygiene industry or deal with school contracts who might know if there is any information about what are acceptable norms in terms of provision relative to menstruating females and frequency of collections.

Also is this something your daughters complain about at their school?

It's a shame no one responded to your question, I think it's an important one. Could you repost or get it moved to Feminist Chat? It's certainly a feminist issue.

Yes it is a shame and I feel angry on behalf of those girls being blamed like that. How do the school know what’s in those bins?! And even if they are putting other rubbish in them well then make more general rubbish bins available too. It’s a very poor response from the school. Don’t let this drop.
