My daughter was born 20th September 2014. When will she start school?

If you're in England or Wales, it's September 2019, just before she turns 5.

AlexanderHamilton · 21/12/2017 20:01

September 2019

dotdotdotmustdash · 21/12/2017 20:06

In Scotland, it would also be Sept 19

dementedpixie · 21/12/2017 20:09

In Scotland it would be August 2019

So nursery 2018-2019
Reception 2019-2020?

Sorry. It's simple but I can't get my head around it. Will she be one of the older or younger ones in the class?

Damn, is that why the teachers looked so pissed off when my children appeared back at school....

dementedpixie · 21/12/2017 22:10

Would she not get a nursery place the term after she is 3? Have you not applied for a nursery place?

BikeRunSki · 21/12/2017 22:11

Sept 2019, she will be one of the eldest in the class. (Mine is, will be eldest in the school next year).

dementedpixie · 21/12/2017 22:13

she would be one of the older children as some start school just after they turn 4

My daughter is a few weeks younger than your dc (Oct 2014). She'll start school in September 2019 and will be one of the oldest. Her 15 hours nursery funding starts Jan 2018 (so in 2 weeks time).

Vlwrup · 21/12/2017 22:21

She is going to a private nursery now but will move her from next year. We live abroad but will go to a British embassy school following the English curriclum so I've been unsure of the dates. Thank you all.

Oh and just to add, you'll need to be applying for a school place this time next year (depend on on when your council opens their application window).

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 21/12/2017 22:25

She'll get a nursery place the term after she's 3,she'll do 2 years in nursery. She'll be one of the oldest in her class. DD 10 is September born and the 2nd oldest in yr5, DS 6 is August born and the youngest in yr2.

AlexanderHamilton · 22/12/2017 01:01

Check on the nursery thing as in my area unless you use the funding at a private nursery you only get a state nursery place the September after they turn 3, not the term after.

Bekabeech · 22/12/2017 06:32

In England you start Reception in 2019. Nursery is before that. Also a foreign British school tends to follow the English curriculum (Sorry it is a misnomer really) and ages really.
