I have applied for a few boarding schools and have already got an offer from one school. I wonder what do you think on Christ's Hospital?
Thank you very much!

My DS is in his last year, he loves it. I wouldn't say he has got the most he could out of it. But he'll leave with good a level results, great friends and memories

There are a few of us Old Blues on Mumsnet. My time was a while ago now, and whilst I wouldn't consider boarding for my kids, if I did, it would be to CH. Loved it, and have several friends whose kids have gone and also loved it. Much less 'entitlement' than many boarding schools and in my day at least the kids were a non arrogant, basically good bunch.

My boss went there. He was a fantastic, well rounded and gifted person - sadly no longer with us.

Sorry this is a bit belated, so I'm guessing you would have had to made your decision by now?
Can't speak personally but a friend's dd goes (think she's in her 5th year). Absolutely hates it. School did nothing to help her with mental health problems. Lots of problems with drugs etc. She can't wait to leave.

Can Dads post? The CH Official website is a cloying, self-congratulating , inward-looking freemasonry in defence of the boarding school system. No modern theory of child development recommends sending your kids away to an institution to be raised by strangers. These places are more at risk from pederasts, sadists and weirdos than the day-school sector, as the current IICSA board is finding out. Three kicked out when I was at CH in the 50s. More later on after historical accusations. No other country in western developed Europe seems to need this boarding system unless there is no other alternative. Solution? Tax the rich realistic sums of money and spend it on the state system.

Let's hope state-school educated Keir Starmer taxes these boarding institutions out of existence. Christ's Hospital may have once cleaved to the historical ideal of these places of taking in the poor and needy but it's lately been taking in more and more fee payers (and they're fat fees) in order to balance the books. It now simply describes itself as an international boarding school.
