Hi Mums
Does anyone have any recent experience, reviews about Brigidine Independent School Windsor?
We are considering it for our two daughters (Currently Yr 5 and Yr 2) as we have recently moved into the area.
Would appreciate any guidance in best schools in the SL3, SL4 area
Maggie

Do you particularly want a girls' school?

maggieu · 13/12/2017 20:05

Not particularly but At the moment they go to an independent girls school and that continuity might be better. I want a very good school. Plans are to try and apply for the grammar schools eventually.

If one is in year 5 they will be sitting grammar school exams next September, rather than "eventually". I understand Brigidine has had a bit of a checkered history, which I'm sure you have seen from your research. I don't know but I wouldn't think they would prepare the girls for eleven plus as they want to keep them in the senior school.

I would go Upton House or Eton End.

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 13/12/2017 20:30

Although I see Eton End has just gone Co Ed. I think that leaves you with Upton House really!

Hi Mums
I just came from a tour at Brigidine. Was shocked at how small it is. Classes are also combined. For example yr. 1 and 2 are all in one class and only 8 to 10 per class.

I will visit Upton House and Eton End in January .

So my next question is apart from the grammar schools, which Independent or State schools would anyone recommend for secondary?

Where do you live? Most state schools including most (but not all) grammars have catchments.

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 15/12/2017 06:49

Sir William Perkins is a lovely school, well worth a look.

I'm pretty sure the Slough grammars have catchments. I think I read something about Slough Grammar (or whatever it is called now) being undersubscribed because not enough children in catchment passed the 11+ Shock

Just as we left, Holyport College was getting established. Not sure how it's bedding in, but might be worth a look.
