Hi. I need some advice please. First off I applied for 1 school for my DD in september and now we have decided to change that choice so I have applied for 3 schools. It will now be classed as a late application and im just wondering if someone can explain what happens now and what would happen if we go on a waiting list. Thanks.

Have you not been offered a place yet then?
I would imagine you will be offered a place at yr nearest school if your top choice isn't available now.

Where are you? (this seems to be more of an issue in some areas)

Sorry, no advise.

Where we live, late applications are considered very very last, so if the 3 schools you have put down are all popular you may well find yourself in trouble...

What was the deadline for your application? Here it was October, and we had letters last month offering places.

I assume that if all the schools you have chosen are full, you can go on the waiting list for all of them, and accept a place as soon as one becomes available.

You must have nerves of steel - there is no way I could do this...

Hi. Thanks. We live in Brightlingsea, essex. They were due in in february sometime and I initially applied for what is now my 3rd choice school which is the one in Brightlingsea but now we have changed our minds and put down 2 other schools, second choice I know she wont get into anyway! They told me they will give us a place once all the on time applications have a place but we may have to go on a waiting list which im abit concerned about. I know the school down the road she would definatly have a place. I also wrote to the council to explain why I changed my choice of schools so now I am waiting to hear if we can be treated on time or late.

OH OK I have read properly now.

So you haven't heard about your initial first choice because the whole application is now classed as late. hmmmm.

So you won't hear until everyone else has heard? And maybe not be considered till then? Is that right?

Why did you change yr mind might one ask? Is yr now 3rd choice your catchment area school? How over-subscribed are these schools anyway?

FWIW most people (hereabouts anyway) have places now so the schools will know if there are spare ones. Can the LEA give you a better idea of timescale?

Hi

I live in Essex too and have done the same. Worried over my inital decision (closing date 26th Feb) and eventually decided to change. My second choice has beome my first, I have added a new second choice and my initial 1st choice is now my third !!! If that makes any sense. My first choice school wouldn't take my son until after Easter anyway and if the worst comes to the worst I will leave him back unitl the September new term. He will be put full time into his fab pre-school if this happens.

Good luck, we should get the results soon, keep us informed how you get on.

Hi thanks. I got an email from the council last week saying we will be considered as a late application and she may go on a waiting list which doesn't close until the first week of september . I am concerned if she goes on the waiting list as with the school down the road she will have introductory sessions in july and I don't want to mess her around, if you see what I mean.
