Hi all! I was just curious if anyones career is being an medical office assistant or a medical assistant. I got some information from one of those at home training courses. The one Im thinking of using is Harcourt. One course I can select would be for mainly behind the counter office procedures and the other degree would be for the actual clinical duties (side by side with the doctor). One does take a little longer to finish. Im very interested in this field and was wondering if anyone had any imput about this career. Does anyone have any opinions on what they think of the at home training? Whether its through a college or some other program. I have never done anything like this so I want to make sure employers will look at my degree the same way as actually going to the college and receiving it. Thanks for any advice.

Hi Threeangels. I'm not sure what a medical office assistant is? I'm a medical secretary and have been for the past 19 years so I could tell you loads about that.

threeangels, I think things like this are organised completely differently in the UK compared with the US. Unless there are other Americans on mumsnet I don't think anybody can help you.
