Best schools in Cornwall

We are thinking of moving to Cornwall. We're not sure exactly where we will be living but it will be around any of the following: Falmouth, Penzance, St Ives, Hayle, Helston. Schools are a major factor and I have twins in year 4. Does anyone have any suggestions of good state or private schools that do sport, music and drama as well. Many thanks

Without commenting on the schools, I think I'd try to avoid Penzance which is among the most deprived towns in a poor county. Falmouth is a nice town, Helston has a large naval air station. St Ives is lovely, but driven by tourism and parking is dire. I understand Mullion has a good secondary. For private schools, I think you'd mainly be looking at Truro and east rather than west.

For secondary, both Gems Bolitho in Penzance and Truro School are worth a look.

Ludgvan primary is a village school just outside Penzance which does very well academically. As does Boskenwyn in Helston.

Good luck with the move. We moved to Cornwall five years ago (east of the county) and have never looked back.

Thanks this is so helpful as you don't know where to start. We are heading down there in a few weeks time to start exploring so I am noting all your advice. Thank you.

Penzance is a great place to live so please give it a look. Gems Bolitho closed nearly two years ago. Ludgvan Primary is Ofsted 'outstanding' also Mounts Bay Secondary.
