Eton fee assistance

We are considering Eton as an option for DS secondary education. At the moment he is being prepped and we are happy with the progress he is making. We have another 3 years before he would be of the correct age.
i have had cousins that attended Eton and absolutely raved about it, they said it was one of the best experiences they have ever had.
The only problem is with DC 2 on the way we wouldn't be able to afford the fees hence the reason I'm asking how far the assistance goes and what are the requirements. We could try for a scholarship however I need to know all options.....
thank you

Well done to your son Christmas! Is he coming from a state or private school? What an amazing achievement.

Thank you, yes my son is starting in 2019. He went to state school until year 4, then we moved him to an independent day school (not a prep as such) which goes up to 18 and follows the national curriculum.

We are moving him to a prep now just to get him prepared as we have no bandwidth, can't get tutors where we live and I have too many children and work too many hours to do it myself :Grin

Mine went to state until y4 too. We didn't plan on Eton - that was ds, who persisted even after we told him it was unlikely. I have to say we found the application process very accessible and non-stuffy: the opposite of what many people on this board may imagine to be the case.

I'll be wearing my mumsnet scarf when term starts in 2019, Christmas 😀

Yes Thenext I found the whole thing very straightforward too - yes to a mumsnet scarf! Please feel free to message me anytime, it would be great to know someone else going etc.. Currently waiting to hear which 3 headmasters we have been allocated!!
