Anyone know what a v c something test is?

Just come back from parents eve and the teacher was talking about a vc something test, anyone know what they are, Ds is 9 and in year 4.

Don't know about the test, but could you be talking about VCOP? It is vocabulary, connectives, openers, punctuation - you have to make sure you put examples of all four into your writing.

If it is that, they will have gone through good examples of each, possibly have lists up on the wall. They do a piece of writing, then go back over it and check they've incorporated all of those things. There are different levels, eg level 1 punctuation might be full stops, level 2 includes commas, level 3 add speech marks, etc (they're not the actual levels - can't remember all of them, but the children will have seen a pyramid of punctuation and will know which level or list they are working on).

I think it had something to do with understanding of words, it was a sit down test that they all did?

This is a piece of 'long' writing, that they might do, say, once a fortnight. It will then be given a level and they are striving to go up a level.

Ask ds. If it is VCOP he will know that's what it's called!
