I thought it strange when ask by a mother "if I was excited about my this afternoon". Took me a few monents to work out what she was talking about. This afternoon we get school reports. I didn't know what to say. Yes I like know how dd (y1) is getting on, as this is her first term in this class. But hand on heart I can't say that makes me excited is that just me or am I a bad mother by not getting excited.

not a bad mother at all, I do have to admit though I get excited about parents evening etc becuase just as I feel it is a reflection on me if dd is naughty I feel really proud of her (and myself) when she does well. I should also add I don't get out much..

I don't get excited exactly, but I do look forward to hearing what the teachers have to say about dd.

I have got excited for dd 5.11(Y1)when I read the report. She has done much better this term then I expected. Don't like to boast but am feeling very proud if her at the monent. Got mostly level 5 for effort (6 been the highest) and averaged level 2C only 1 1b and 3 2b.
Very different from her last class which was more on the lines of "if only she would focus on the tasks at hand". "Lacks concentration and hardly ever completes set tasks." "In a world of her own half the time".

That probably explains why the competitive mum asked you, hoping you would say no you were dreading it so that she could look sympathetic and then brag about her gifted little angel!

me - i love it!

have hated it though!

Thank-you wildwoman With that mother I think that's probably true. She is pushy and she has an angel dd who way wants to impress. I personally feel sorry for the child she is lovely and one of dd best friends but I do find her mothers very pushy.
