An update on ds' "promotion" thread(s)

For all those (and there were many) who contributed to the several threads about ds' "promotion" from Rec to Y1, I thought I'd give you an update as to what has happened since.
We sent a letter to the Head (drafted by LIZS I think) which gained nothing tangible but made us feel better and gave the Head no doubt as to our feelings about the situation! I looked round another school but on pure gut instinct we decided to stick with our original choice.
At the moment he seems to be coping extremely well with being in Y1 most of the time but still has plenty of friends in Reception. I know lots of Rec mums and so can keep tabs on whats going on there so he misses out as little as possible.
I was overwhelmed by the support we received from MN through what was a stressful time for us. I'm certain we dealt with things more effectively because of the advice we received. The situation he's in is by no means ideal but he's happy and so we are too.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU all sooooooooooooooooooo much

how did you persuade the head? This really was what DD needed last year and could really do with being in year 2 at the moment

Glad things are looking a bit more positive for DS right now.

Glad things have turned out well.

snorkle that's exactly it, if we'd moved school it would've been a huge upheaval and with no guarantees that things would work out there. Really glad we made that choice.
confused, we didn't persuade the Head, our ds was "promoted" against our better judgement, certainly not something we would have chosen.
