St Annes is supposed to be good but don't know much about it really.

Oh my friend is head of infants at WSA. (I also worry she or someone else will work out who I am.....)

What about Bernards castle - thats in county Durham (don't think it is too far away) although having said that I am rubbish at Geography.

QES is the state comp in Kirkby Lonsdale and is very good, excellent results and learning ethos.

MrsWho · 02/05/2007 21:39

Yeah other side of England!

cazzybabs · 02/05/2007 21:42

Both up north....you can board!

WendyWeber · 02/05/2007 21:45

What age are you looking for? If Kirkby Lonsdale is an option consider Lancaster too - 2 fantastic grammars there (girls day only, boys day and boarding)

helenhismadwife · 03/05/2007 08:19

dh cousins went to Elleray and their say its great

we were going to send dd's to Castertons but moved

Wouldn't recommend Sedbergh Junior school at the moment, seems to be undergoing an unsettled period. They are also probably about to be in trouble over pupil poaching .

Sedbergh seniors has a lot going for it.

I know may people who were very happy at St Annes.

Barnard Castle (wrong part of country, but they do board) is fantastic. Had we been up north still we would have sent children there. Great head, impressive facilities.

You can only really get a feel for the place if you visit. They are all very different places so I'm sure you would get a 'gut reaction' to one of them.

Of course, if money is no option, and you want your child to mix with the 'right people' it would have to be Aysgarth - very hunting, shooting and fishing type place

Sedburgh seniors exam results are pretty dire though.

WriggleJiggle
We did not get a good feeling from SJS, but did like the senior school.
I guess octopussyintummy brother children are girls so should have a look at Queen Margarets in York..
