School Governors/teachers

Just wondered what you thought?

The Head of our children?s independent primary school has taken the last 3 weeks of term as leave to visit family abroad (family anniversary, other side of the world)
This was agreed by the chairman of Governors. As far as I know, no one else was consulted.
Many parents unimpressed, as indeed I am.
Kick up or shut up?

Presumably you have a Deputy Head?

As long as the Chair of Governors was consulted and is satisfied that school affairs have been left with the deputy head, then I don't really see that there's a problem.

It must be a major family celebration or I's sure the Head wouldn't be going.

Why exactly are you unimpressed?

Littlefish · 16/03/2007 19:42

I'm

AntEater · 16/03/2007 19:52

DHead only been with school one term.
Staffing has been an issue for a while.
But mostly because he was so Fxxing arsy when I requested a half day Friday for my dc so we could catch a flight for 1/2 term break.

AntEater · 16/03/2007 20:04

luciemule · 16/03/2007 20:23

seems a bit strange that the head needs a whole 3 weeks! Even if it was a wedding in Australia, they could it in a long weekend. What do they think business do - jetting here there and everywhere - take a 3 week hol at the same time. Hmmmmmm - very naughty to do in term time I think, especially when they make such a fuss over kids taking one or two days off for flights!
The only reason I think it could be forgiven if it was the head's wedding and honeymoon included. Other than that - it's off.

RTKangaMummy · 16/03/2007 20:27

PERhaps you ask for 3 weeks off the fees

Elasticwoman · 16/03/2007 20:29

The advantages of private education are sometimes over-rated. Your only redress is to vote with your feet.
