Hello!
Can't believe it's come round so quickly but I've got register my boy for the 11+ academic test this September. I just wanted to clarify something about Dr Challoners Grammar school in Amersham. So I read you have to score over 121 to be eligible. Once they have a list of all those children who passed, do they then allocate the places by distance? ? I'm in Rickmansworth and just wondering if it's worth going for. Many thanks, so confused! 😩😃

I think it's unlikely you would get in living in Rickmansworth. Places are allocated on catchment and distance from the school once the qualifying score of 121 has been reached. I think there is information on the Bucks County Council website about allocation distances. The grammar schools in Aylesbury do have places for out of catchment applicants, as the numbers of in catchment passes are lower than in South Bucks. Have a look on the 11+ Forum for more detailed information.

Shame, really like the school but can't move nearer! Thanks for your advice x

Hi zarbrownie

Your son def won't get in from Ricky.

School places are allocated by distance not score. Some boys don't even get in from the Gerrards Cross area!

If you like Challoners you may like Watford Boys, have you had a look around there? (or Merchant Taylors in Northwood if you've got the readies!)

Thank you notenoughtime, we are all guns for Watford Boys now we can't go for Challoners! Wish I could go for merchant Taylor's but don't think my bank would be very happy with me 😜
