Just a quick question on teacher assessment reults.

If 2B is the average attainment that a child of Year 2 is expected to reach. Would a 1B result be an average for a year 1, or doesn't it work like that?

Just to confuse you it doesn't work like that.

4B is the average level for Y6, so children generally progress two sub-levels per year (that's what teachers aim for, although some years will see less and some more progress depending on the child).

So...two sub-levels below 2B would be 1A (2C next, then 2B).

and just to muddy the waters further, getting a level 5 at the end of year 6 is not a direct eqivalent to getting a level 5 at the start of year 7!

Yes, 1A is the expected level of attainment at Y1.
