Hi folks, I need some input and experiences please.
I'm a parent governor at our local village school and am on a group hoping to set up before & after school care. The school is small (90 children) and an additional problem re. after-school provision is the fact that nearly 2/3 of children come from a nearby US military base and have access to b&a-school care on there, so the actual potential client base for provision at the school is only about 40 (taking into account American children whose parents would prefer non-military base care for whatever reason).
We've had poor parental responses so far and it's all getting a bit frustrating. There is no childminder in the area and our options are limited. I'd be really interested and grateful in hearing how other very small schools deal with the requirement for b&a school care.
We're currently considering going down the management committee & charity route, but are rather concerned that we'll put in a lot of effort to provide provision for only a handful of children.
