Can you help me with exams?

What do your teens do? In Scotland 15/16yo will be doing national 4 or national 5 exams, but what do the English school do? Do you have different levels of gcse still or has it changed in a million years since I was at school

Still GCSEs at 16 - usually about 10 subjects, then usually A levels at 18 (or 17 in DD's case because she is a summer born). Most students take 3 A levels. DD is currently studying for 4 but struggling with the workload.

Thanks. are GCSEs still sat at different levels? My DS is currently doing 6 subjects but half of them are national 4 and the other half national 5 - I'm trying to work out if that's equivalent to the general & credit gcse that I remember?

When she goes to do highers next year I think she will still need to do national 5 in three of her subjects

Some subjects could be taken at foundation level, but I don't understand how it works. All I know is that you can't get higher than a C at foundation level. Usually the less academic students sit foundation GCSEs. I think there are BTECs as well, but I don't know anything about them.

The government are changing the GCSEs and making them more difficult. They are changing the grading systems to reflect this. In 2017 maths and English will have the new grades.

They are also changing the A levels and getting rid of AS levels.
