Have a look now at my profile page - I'll leave it up until I go to bed and then make it private again.

Can I see him sometime please?

nearlyfourbob · 11/02/2007 18:19

He's back up now for the next 14 hours or so.

bless him!!! does he like to practise? DD is a pain in the bum at practising piano and drums, she wants to improvise and not do her set pieces. I try not to pressure her for fear she'll give up and regret it later. He does look very cute.

welliemum · 11/02/2007 19:27

This is so lovely to see - he's going to have such fun with this.

(Learning the cello is on my to-do list so I'm envious too!)

He loves his practise so far - he played a concert last night for grandparents - he had learnt 6 pieces from his book (he can only learn 6 because then they require a bow and he hasn't learnt that yet), his played his favourite 3 to them. Then he showed them the notes and told them the note names. Given his note prowess I'm glad we didn't go for Suzuki method.

It's very hard to believe that he's 3 at the moment.

I'm amazed that a 3 year old would be able to do this - obviously he's pretty exceptional.

Does he like listening to cello music as well as playing?

RosaLuxembourg · 11/02/2007 23:39

Blimey that is a cute cello. DD2 is six and has a quarter-size one, but it looks huge compared to that. Sounds like he is going to be a complete natural.
I took DDs 1 & 2 to hear a violinist called Jennifer Pike recently - she won BBC Young musician of the year at 12 - I expect she started out like your DS - she certainly impressed my girls.

colditz · 11/02/2007 23:41

Awwwwwwwww that is just lovely

FrogPrincess · 11/02/2007 23:49

he looks so sweet!!!
dd has a quarter size cello, but started with an eighth when she was 5 and a half
Positively massive compared to your ds's!!
He sounds very taken with it
Don't tell him that but according to the Times, cellists are the sexiest musicians and best lovers.....

nearlyfourbob · 12/02/2007 00:31

That's it - he's grounded until he's a least 30. I think his cello is a 1/10th size.

Oh, I just missed him. I wanted to have one last little look. Never mind, I'm sure he'll come out again soon. What instruments do you play and teach fourbob?

nearlyfourbob · 12/02/2007 18:00

he's back gingermonkey - I teach flute and piano. I am also a pre school music teacher.

danceswithnewboots · 12/02/2007 18:04

Where, where?! Have I missed him again?

nearlyfourbob · 12/02/2007 19:06

Just need to click on the yellow rectangle near my name on one of my posts.

Thank you fourbob, I want to eat him up! (not in a cannibalistic way, of course!) What a fab job you have, I wish I had even a snippet of talent! DH plays the piano but doesn't read music, he taught himself from ear (he's very good). I think DD is the same, she gets frustrated by the grade system and having to learn what she says is 'rubbish!!!'

danceswithnewboots · 12/02/2007 20:17

AWwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, bless him! Scrumptious!
