Holmwood house Colchester

We're moving to Colchester and we're looking at this prep school. Any thoughts from parents in the area or about other local private preps? Thanks.

Depends if you want age 11 or age 13 transfer to secondary school. Holmwood house I understand predominantly prepares for 13 plus CE entry, whereas other preps in the areas only take children to year 6 so specialise in state and indi 11 plus exams. So you probably need to think about your secondary preferances first, if one of the state grammar schools is a consideration then I would be looking at Little Garth, if you are after future boarding then Holmwood house is a good option.

Hi we are looking at Holmwood House and Colchester High for our two girls now 8 and 5. Can anyone please give any knowledge of either of them? We live in Kent now but relocating to Essex and visiting the schools etc can only tell us so much. Also any recommendations for other mixed independent primaries in the area. Thankyou x
