Thinking of a move to Devon/Cornwall and beginning to look at areas/schools, wondering if people have feedback on good schools in the region. We would be moving during our daughter's Y6 so need to think about secondary schools. Thanks.

Around the Devon Cornwall border, Okehampton Community College is currently Ofsted Outstanding, and IIRC Launceston is at least good. Tavistock College is improving, but from a low base/special measures about five years ago, and Callington Community College is still in special measures. Don't know much about the rest although Torpoint is appalling by reputation. Saltash, Liskeard etc. Because of the area, they all tend to be quite large schools with huge rural catchments.

Plymouth, being a unitary authority, has three grammar schools but this affects the comps' intakes. Ivybridge and Heles are supposed to be okay (on the east side of the city). South Hams area is leafy suburbs, with high property prices. Torbay is another grammar area. Exmouth is a huge school. Exeter has good independent schools, but don't know about the comps, and there's a well-regarded sixth form college. If your DC are very bright, Colyton Grammar is super-selective (east Devon).

Devon is a huge county, and Cornwall is long so I can't tell you much about the areas beyond that.
