how to console sensitive DD

DD in Y1 has just come home from school and feeling very sad she didn't get a high number of reward points and certificate at the end of the week. She is very well behaved and there is no negative feedback from school.

I'm starting to suspect teacher doesn't like her for some reason and also because she is shy, rarely speaks up or volunteers information. It seems all the quite bossy kids in class are being favoured?

Anyway, not sure how to encourage her and want her to enjoy school.

I doubt the teacher dislikes your DD, but inevitably teachers notice the naughty/ loud and very confident kids first. The academic year is still young. Give it time.

All I can say is keep encouraging her by praising her for what she does well at home.

It's difficult having a quiet child...

Unfortunately the rewards systems at that age seem to be geared to getting the naughty kids to behave better than to reward the good kids. My DS wanted to know why Charlie got a merit for sitting still when he (DS) always sat still.

Awh bless her, I think it's fascinating what reward schemes mean to different children, some are obsessive about them, others couldn't give a damn.My two were polar opposites on this.Dd right throughout Primary School, hardly received anything and these schemes meant the world to her.As soon as she got to Secondary School she received lots of recognition, she now describes it as embarrassing, but in years gone by I remember her crying. Ds does not care, his picture is in the school prospectus, he gets a certificate every week, you name it he's in there, half the time he's even ensure about what he's been rewarded for. The term has only just begun, so hopefully it's her time soon, her moment will come, it can take a lot of time though.

Sounds very silly op! Really depends on school ime as in my dds school it is the quiet well behaved ones who get them and she gets nothing as she is immature and disruptive though Never intends to be naughty exactly.
