Taking Cycling Proficiency/Bikeability in Private Schools

Hi, if your child is at or was at a private school can you please advise if your school arranged for your child to take the cycling proficiency test/ Bikeability course. Usually taken from Yr 4 - Yr 6. TIA

Yes, our prep does with year 6 just before eastee.

ours didn't when my son was that age group but apparently does now1 Mainly because there was a parent who stood up to do it.

Our local authority arranges for Bikeability courses to be run in the school holidays.

Neither of mine did it at prep school (though both did it with the LA). But other yeargroups at the prep did do it - sometimes it just seemed to be difficult to find a suitable week for it.

LA's subsidise it, but that doesn't extend to private schools. So you're far more likely to get it in a state school than private unless they're prepared to pay for an instructor, etc to run it.

The private school where I volunteer run it for Year 6's, towards the end of the year. I think, but not sure, that they do it in May half term. I dont know who pays for it.

No I had to pay 60 quid for a private instructor to do it : < - they had fun though and he was very nice.
