Parents evening....is ds6 (nearly 7) doing ok?

Had parents evening last night, ds who is in Year 2 and will be 7 in March has the following marks.

Reading 2c
Maths 2b
Writing 1c

Im disappointed that his writing is below what it should be, but Im not surprised as he isnt interested in writing, drawing etc. You dont speak to other Mums really about what their child got and the teachers are always very careful in how they word things. He does have some special needs, very poor concentration is one, so I guess he is doing ok really. I know he will nevery be top of the class, but would love him to be somewhere in the middle. Would love to hear how other year 2 boys are doing. Thanks.

Friend who is yr1 teacher says that is typical of boys from her last years class (now year 2) Boys have physical difficulty writing, also by end of year could be grades higher (expected is 2b for everything) espec as he is middle age of year group

My son is in year 2 also. When I had parents evening in October he was about 2c on everything and he is one of the clever ones in the (poor) class. Due to have Parents evening again in March. Hopefully he has improved. You son is on target for most of his things. They have sat's in May and only expected to get a level 2b. Hope this helps

Yes it does thanks. I went to a coffee morning this morning and I could hear other Mums chatting about how pleased there were about there childrens progress at parents evening. Its impolite to ask, but I was dying to know what level they had been graded it so I knew what "pleased" was. Trouble is I think parents big up their kids some much that it makes Mums like me think that every other kid in the world is a genius.
