Camb City School recommendations

We are probably moving for Oxford to Cambridge (hopefully in the city) next year. I was wondering if anyone would highly recommend a suitable Prep or Primary school for my 2 (lovable but very lively) twin boys of 5?
From their website I am interested in the pelican school but worry about their reputation of being an academic hothouse. Are the teachers nurturing and caring of those who are not academically exceptional at the age of 5? Any personal opinions appreciated.

Not really an answer but the primary school thread I think gets more traffic than this one? Might want to post this there as well?

Thanks HPFA. Any advice is appreciated as this is the first time I've used the site - It's been recommended by a colleague at work.

How about looking at Brookes Cambridge? Think it used to be called Cherry Trees - sounds like an interesting option - i looked at it for my DS

The Pelican isn't an academic hothouse but you might not get 2 places if you are not starting at the regular time as I think it is quite over subscribed.

I would question the Christian ethos and family values of the school of your choice Hacketts. Unfortunately, many Cambridge parents know that unprofessional staff conduct has recently let the school down recently. This is something that is not mentioned on their website.

Thank you. Yes. I have heard about what I think you are referring to from my sister in law whose children are at St John's in the city.
It's awful. The school governors there must be furious!!!

Hi I'd recommend sancton wood, or even the provided bus to the friends school in saffron walden. We moved out of the cambridge hot houses at the same time as several other parents a few years ago. I have also heard about the awful staff conduct at the pelican part of the so called prestigious school The Perse! Friends of friends have children coming home from school before summer holidays telling there parents that 2 of the teachers(both married) were now living together and coming to school together. Personally, If they have no morals I wouldn't want them teaching my children, and not surprised people are thinking of moving there children. They'll get a shock next term if they start moving! Sounds like they've closed ranks. Think other schools would or should ask one to leave?? Do you think? Maybe because he was on management (senior position)as well as teaching his behaviour is overlooked?? Unbelievable to be honest, it's the gossip round many a summer bar b cue this year!!
