What extra-curricular activities does your child's school provide?

This is just out of interest -
Are they lunchtime or afterschool activities?
What age can a child start them?
What are the different options?
Do you have to pay for them, if so how much?
Is the school state or independent?

Our junior school does at least one club each lunchtime and after school.
All the teachers, including the head, take at least one each.
On offer are choir, orchestra, recorders, spanish, knitting, chess, homework, computers, drama, football, badminton, netball, art, guitar, violin. There may be more but these are the ones I can think of. French and tennis are clubs provided by outside organisations and you pay for them.
Some of the clubs are e.g. yr6 only or yrs 3 & 4 only.

The infant school does an after school club one day a week for the yr2s. There are three different activities - music, book club and art. The children can do a different one each term.

I think we are very lucky to have teachers willing to give up so much time for the children and I am truly grateful.

State schools by the way.

Monday and Wednesday - Wake up and shake up (Exercises 830-845)

Lunchtimes - Recorders, board games, drama, peace n quiet club, gifted & talented, choir, spanish

Then after school - yoga, netball, drawing/painting, Frnch, Football, Pottery and ICT.

Most are available for ages 4-11 free of charge.

There is also an afterschool club run independently 315-6pm £7.75 per session.

Its a state school.

State infant -

French (£! per week) lunchtime
Gym(£4 per week) after school
Football(£4 per week) after school ,
allyr 1 and 2

Yr 2 also art, and music after school, £2 per week

State Junior,

allclubs are free except 50p contribution to cooking, and individual music lessons (No idea how much)

They vary each term.
This term yr 3 has sewing, French (Lunchtime) Cartoon drawing, board games, football, and craft.

Independent school. They don't offer much in Reception apart from dancing and swimming lessons in the week, and dancing and football at weekends but gradually introduce more and the choice can vary each term.

dd (yr1)currently does minitennis, unihockey(after school), choir, ballet and modern dancing(afterschool) - all but choir chargeable £40+ ish each per term.

ds (yr4) does art, hockey and touch typing, all after school, cost included I think. There are a range of activities in addition to art, run simoultaneously, to choose from .

Both do extra swimming after school (about £55 per term).

Private prep school.

There is a breakfast club, from 7:45am, at £2 a day.

There is a general after school club until 5:30pm which is included in the fees.

Lunchtime: for prep (or Y3) upwards
Monday - Flute choir
Tuesday - Strings group

After school - £3 a session I think, last till 5pm

Monday:

• Preprep Drama (to PP3, or Y2)
• Spanish (P2-P4, or Y4-6)

Tuesday:

• Prep Gymnastics (all years)
• Cookery (all years)
• Samba Band (all years)
• Woodwork (all years)

Wednesday:
Prep Drama (P1-P4, or Y3-6)
Junior Art Club (PP2-P1, or Y2-Y4)

Thursday:
Senior Art (P2-P4, or Y4-6)
Gymnastics (all years)
Spanish (PP2-Y1, or Y1-Y3)

No clubs on Fridays

As they get older there are also other music lessons adnd sports teams available - not sure when they start).

Oh, and ballet is included in the normal school day for preprep (to Y2) and swimming lessons from PP2.

A lot of clubs are for children from reception onwards, but some like Magic and Circus skills are for Juniors.

Sort of a weird school as is in Holland but government funded with an obligatory 'top-up' of almost Eu3,000 pa per child for English language materials, recruitment etc. So not strictly private, not strictly state.

Nothing 'extra' is included although my kids and most kids - Dutch or international - do loads of extra-curricular stuff. Its up to the parents to organise and pay for it!

For the Mumsnet record, my 3 kids between them do football, cricket, ballet, piano, riding and swimming

State Infants
Yr 1- football and skipping(after school)
Yr2 -computers (lunch time)
Both free.

Ours is a state junior school & the teachers run a variety of free clubs after school or at lunchtimes - choir, band,recorder, drama, card & board games, drama, art & crafts, netball,tag rugby, gardening & ICT club are the most recent ones I can think of.
We also have clubs parents pay for: Ace Stars tennis after school, and Reading FC run two lunchtime 'drop-in' sessions & one after school booked session every week.
