What kind of question is that? Without any other specifics it's like asking whether you should have coffee or tea, or holiday in Florida or Sardinia.

I've done both for DD. It depends on your circumstances and your options. For us leaving behind a highly popular and academically selective indie for a grammar was the best for us and for DD but your situation is unlikely to be identical to others on this forum.

It depends.....how old is your child? do you have other children? what are all the schools in your area like? can you afford private school? etc.
My rule of thumb is to choose the school that is the best fit for your child which (if affordable and allowing for future inflation in fees) could be either option.
