Independent School Bursaries

Does anyone have any experience of applying for one of these?
I feel completely out of my depth but I really don't want to let DD down.
If it doesn't work out it doesn't really matter, I would just like to give her the support and opportunity.
I have emailed the school that I really like, it does mention bursaries and Assisted Places on its website so I have asked for further information.
The other, more local school, doesn't really mention it on their website, is it still worth enquiring?
I have no experience of anything like this, any advice would be greatly appreciated. I feel like a duck out of water.
(DD wouldn't be applying for a place for a few years yet, but I read you should usually apply 2 years beforehand. Does that sound right?)
Thanks.

www.mumsnet.com/SearchArch?search_origin=mobile&mustmatch=Bursary&dontmatch=&nickname=&fromDate=2012-06-27&toDate=2016-06-27

Limitless information herein. (From 2012 to present. I would scroll down to Education and ignore AIBU.)
