What would you do re:schools??

When we moved house I also moved the children to a new school as I was spending 1.5 hours doing the school run. Anyway I couldn't get them into a nearby school and they go to one about 1.5 miles away now. BUT a brand new school is being built about 2 minutes walk away from my house, it will be open in sept. So do I move my children from a school that they have settled into well and are getting on ok in, or move them to the new school?? it is an exsisting school that is open atm but moving to the bigger, better site, but unforturely we couldn't get the kids into the exsisting school as they had no places (until they move) and its not very disabled friendly either. I really don't know what to do.

What year groups are the children in at the moment? Do they have any particularly close friends that they would be devastated to leave?
We moved DD1 half-way through year one and she was fine and made friends quickly. She is now in year five and I have noticed that the children who have come into her class over the years have quickly made friends and been absorbed into the social networks.
I would be tempted to make the move if you think it would be good for your children in other ways. After all you will be near enough to keep in touch with their friends from their old school.

you know my views, i would;ve done that god awful school run for a year then moved them to the new one

Have you casually brought the subject up with your children yet - just to sound them out about the idea?

ds is in yr4 dd1 is in yr2 and dd2 is in reception. just not sure if I can't rip them from their friends again..
