MOAN about swimming lessons

eeeew, I am aghast at how popular the lessons are and the fact that there is always an unreasonable waiting list to get your child on the courses.
I think the local authorities should examine the lack of facilities to meet the demand, after all it will keep the children safe near water.

Oh i feel better now.

Have you tried private swimming clubs rather than those run by the (contracted out - and usually hopelessly inefficient) management of what we think of as council/local authority leisure facilities. They will probably be in the same facilities but run by people that actually care!

Here there is no waiting list but you have to just join a mssive queue to get in.Only seem to have got like this over the last 3 years(missed it with both mine ) and once you're in the system you can keep there .

ours is like that nikkie and they do the queue thing once a term and it goes on for HOURS!

it's so annoying isn't it Tenalady - I agree in looking for private lessons. Most of the ones round here are twice the price of the council ones though ggrrr.

Having this problem. DD is 4y9m and can finally start swimming lessons when she turns 5.

She can't do the lesson for 4yos are they are during the school day - not good if your child is at school!!! That point actually annoys me hugely. In many activity types the 4yo schoolchildren are completely missed out and forgotten Very frustrating when you have a child who wants to do the same as their school friends but aren't allowed. Grrr!

Have put DD's name down at one place for lessons last week and have been told that there is a 6-8 month wait - but I wasn't allowed to put her ame down before Christmas when I asked.

One pool, our favoured one due to location, you can't put their names down till they turn 5 and then only at certain times in the year. And there is a waiting list on top.

Going to try one other pool tomorrow, to see if I can any shorter wait!

Our pool they can start at one (water confidence) and then the mext class is 3( without an adult) in a small pool
