DS horribly ill today - just lying in bed in his jim-jams! Taking no food which means he is ill and not being lazy. His has an entrance exam this Saturday. What happens if a child is ill - can they resit on another day?

Usually, yes. Why don't you phone the school and find out.

Blimey, I hit post insread of preview! My eldest sat on another day as he was in hospital during the entrance exam. This was for entrance to an Private school. If it is for a Grammar school and is actually the 11+, they may ask him to sit a different paper just in case he may have had chats with friends who have taken it and tell him all the gory details.

Hope that your boy is feeling better soon.

Would call the school and check. Children are amazingly resilient anyway so he may be fine again by Thursday/Friday!

Thanks - I will see how he is feeling on Thursday and then contact school to discuss options. Hopefully they will understand that he has other exams to take when trying to fit us back in.

He had some soup tonight so should be on the mend

Bumping to see if all went well.

Yes I took him along to Hamptons. There must have been at about 800 boys. I drove off feeling sick on his behalf whilst calculating the profit that these schools must make from the entrance tests - 800 boys at £75 a go is a nice little earner.

He was still unwell but at least he was not being sick and rushing to the loo every 20 minutes.

We now have the anxious wait for the result. At least he is now better for another test this Saturday!
