We have to move to Plymouth and this school was top of our list,we know a couple of parents and liked what we saw.
We are looking for ds and dd to start in september,we have now been told that the Head is leaving by mutual consent,wondering what this means for the school and whether we should proceed,the parents we know are very surprised,they have known the head for several years and like him,the reason given is that he didnt want to live on site,but they say hes never lived on site,so why is that a problem?
Do all schools in the private sector have heads living on site?

Dumpling-sorry to hear that,certainly dont like the sound of children out of control,or parents not talking to each other,is that what you think the head is being used as a scapegoat for?
Certainly it seems odd that the school now wants him to live on site,why is that important now,and not when he was appointed.

If you want a school with lots of local children ,dont bother,we have a dd at the senior school and she will not be staying for A levels.
The last couple of years have seen massive changes in the cohort,the school has tweeted that numbers are up by 20% and boarders by 30%,what they dont say is how those percentages are made up,the school is now very active in the overseas market,every term more and more foreign children arrive,they often are only staying for a year, this means a loss of school identity and connection with the local area,very sad to see.The school has always been reliant on swimmers to boost numbers-who contribute little outside swimming-now it seems it has decided to be an international school,if that what it is going to be then it should be open with parents.
Local parents are very unhappy with the direction of the school.
