modern christmas play - childen sang beautifully, loved it, tear to my eyes

just been to my ds's (modern) christmas play - baseball caps, sunglasses, gold chains, etc they looked like they all were really enjoying it, they sang happy songs very tunefully, it brought tears to my eyes,
what is it about christmas plays and children singing that does this to me??

I went to DD's first ever nativity (pretty traditional but with modern songs) and yes, children singing and the whole school play bit brought tears to my eyes too.

it is just lovely, they are just lovely...
