I've been looking at grammar schools in Bucks.

I didn't know about the Royal Grammar in High Wycombe. The website paints a marvellous picture.

Very nice looking school

Does anyone have a son there? Have a view on the school? I'm visiting it on Thursday am but would be interested to hear some views on the place.

Tia.

And what is difference between a day boarder and a weekly boarder please?

Hi Winky,

I know several families with boys at RGS. All are happy, feeling is that the new head will be very good for it. It is quite traditional in outlook - very academic, sporty and heavily rugby orientated which doesn't suit all.

One family in particular have boarding experience - one of their sons was the first to be classified a day boarder. They chose it because of family logistics, even though live relatively nearby. It's been very positive for them.

The day boarding sprang up out of a need for boys to stay later in the day without sleeping over.

How did your visit go?

Hallo.

Thanks so much for the info.

I am taken aback by ds1 being so keen to be a weekly boarder. He'll only be 11. But he says to me that it'll only be four nights a week and he'll be home for weekends and all the holidays.

I felt very sad. But then it's not about me is it?

We have four more days to decide.
