Organising parents/class Xmas socials.... AAArgh!

Need to rant. Organised the social for parents for our class year (so 90+ families to invite). Had about 30 attend at a local restaurant.

Fixed price meal + wine extra, so to make things easy when the bill came we assigned a 'with wine' or 'without wine' price (about ?3 different, cos people still has soft drinks etc).

Have had a discussion with a couple of parents this a.m. who are complaining that they should have paid ?2 less, as 'they didn't drink much wine'

FFS. What else were we supposed to do - tot up everyone's personal bill?

Aaaargh. I resign.

Oh what a pain. Why do people say things like that for the sake of a measly £2?
I'm going to a similar thing next week but I think we are ordering and paying for our own drinks. That way I can get totally bladdered or remain stone cold sober (it depends on the company) and not feel guilty

Ignore them. They are being picky. They knew the score at the start and agreed to it when they said they'd come. Next time they know to drink more

We've got a fixed cost for meal, soft drinks and includes share towards teachers' meals. You pay for your own alcohol. Most people drive and at least a quarter are muslim, so the drinkers are outnumbered.
