Free school meals like WTF!

So DS is about to start high school and i was finding out about free school meals because im not going to lie i cant afford them i earn under 10,000 a year and am registered disabled but because i work 2 days a week and get working taxcredit im not entiltiled to free sschool meals! What should i do phone LA but will they do anything it will be such a strecth to pay for the meals (if it comes to it i will though... but) I live in norfolk by the way any suggestions

It's tough. Sounds like packed lunches will be the way forward to start with. Have a chat with the school, they might have some ideas.

OP are you claiming housing benefit, council tax benefit, personal independence payment, child and working tax credits?

The tax credits allegedly have an allowance for child's lunches built in. If you lost the credits you'd get free lunches but be worse off.

Yes i am penfold007but the second you get working tax credit you dont get free school meals

You are right Working Tax Credits mean no free meals but the amount of WTC you get out weighs the free lunches. You get help with rent and council tax alongside tax credits and DLA.

I don't think there's anything you can do other than perhaps cheaper packed lunches. I can't imagine they make exceptions
