LeapPad Learning System - are they any good?

That's the question really? Was thinking of getting one for DD1 (5) and don't know anyone who has got one to ask to see if they are worth the money?

Thanks Orinoco - sounds good to me too!

DD has a Leappad, with several books including one with a microhone. She enjoys using her Leappad. She doesn't use it to "read" the books, more for the activities on each page. She has started using it more in the car now as well, and it is useful to take away for weekends with us.

TBH, my ds had one since he was 4 and I can't say it helped at all. For me, I think it was a waste of money, but entirely up to you.
