Have any UK teachers worked in NZ or visa versa?

Some background, my DH is from NZ and has lived in UK since 1999. I am studying a BA Education Studies with a view to doing a PGCE primary after I graduate.

We are thinking (very early days) of moving to Wellington, and I wanted to ask what the biggest differences are in the education system.

Our DD is 7 would she find the lessons/methods of teaching much different?

Any thoughts?

Perhaps if you post this on the Living Overseas board you may get more relevant and current responses? Grin

I looked into this a few years ago. NZ is keen on UK teachers, but be prepared to have completed your NQT year here before applying. We spent a few months in NZ in 2008 and DS (then 8) spent a week in a primary school in Pahia. He enjoyed it and didn't seem phased by a different approach, but his UK teacher was a Kiwi too! No shoes are worn in school, which he found interesting.
