Homework Hell

DD1 is a bright child. However, sit her with me with homework and she turns into a ignorant little plank....Bored " I dont knowwwwwwwwwwwww"s and "Why cant you do it for me?s"
Always end up with me saying " I know how to do this. You dont...so maybe you should listen/pay attention...bla de bla."
How to stop the hell its become?

Tell her "OK - I will do your homework if YOU do all the washing, ironing, cooking, cleaning, shopping etc"

i know it's like pulling teeth! it does get easier, my ds(13) tends to do most of his work on the computer now. can you do it in small amounts, or does she get it daily?

Bribery. Not joking. It was and often still is the only thing stopping me going over the edge at that time of night.

Don't help her and let her take the consequences.

Have a chat with her when h/w is not an issue.

make it clear to her that if she really can't do the h/w that is OK, but the teacher needs to know that she desn't understand. Make it clear to her that the teacher needs to know if the kids can do the work, not the parents!

Ask the school to make this clear to the kids as well.

After that happens, let her take the consquences, if she really doen't 'get' the work, the teacher will need to know and fill in the gaps in her understanding.

If she can't be bothered to do the H/w let her take the punishment.

Either way it is her h/w and not yours!
