University College School 7+ Exam prep - advice needed!

Hi all,
Has someone here managed to get their DS to UCS in London in Year 3?
My son is in Y1 and apparently I should have started tutoring well earlier. Or maybe he can get on without tutoring?
We're not British so this is still all unfamiliar to me...
Any input would be really appreciated!

Is he at a prep school or a state school?

He's at a state school. Thanks!

Yes you're a bit late, aren't some of the exams in September? But you've got the whole summer holiday to catch up so I don't think all is lost.

PM "mumteacher" , she is a tutor at this level.

I think the exams are in January for this one... Thank you for your help :)

I keep saying this on here, my dc passed 7+ to a similar school without any tutoring from a state primary and they are not geniuses by any means. Not to say, ALL dc will do this but all is not lost for you by any means. Is your child in the class top 3? Can he read fluently? If so, you're in with a good chance. There are lots of threads on here pointing you in the right direction, basically work through the Bond books for his age for about 20 minutes per day and the year above in maths and English and whatever subjects UCS tests on. You can do this yourself or with a tutor but a tutor is no guarantee. Call the school for more advice. Remember if it doesn't work out, it is by FAR from the end of the world and you can try again at 11. Good luck.

Thanks a lot, yes he is in the top of his class so I want to give him a good chance! We'll do the Bond books. Thanks!!
